Description:

Vintage Couture crystal brooch c.1950
Beautiful and very elegant brooch of the 50s, made of crystal and simulated pearls brooch, silver plated metal. Very haute couture.
Signed 41, representing a manufacturer of Neugablonz (see a little bit of history below). The number 41 was assigned to the factory of Manfred Kleinert. Manfred Kleinert created jewelry not only under his own name but also for leading couture houses, including Christian Dior.
Today, pieces attributed to Kleinert—particularly those bearing the number "41"—are highly regarded by collectors as emblematic of the Kaufbeuren/Neugablonz tradition, combining exceptional German craftsmanship with the stylistic requirements of mid-20th-century fashion.

A little bit more history about Neugablonz
Neugablonz, founded in Bavaria in the late 1940s by displaced artisans from Gablonz, quickly became a major center for high-quality costume jewelry. Drawing on the Bohemian tradition of glassmaking and rhinestone cutting, its workshops worked from the 1950s onward for leading French couture houses, supplying stones, components, and finished or semi-finished jewelry for Paris haute couture collections.
A numbering system assigned to manufacturers ensured identification, traceability, and consistent quality. Today, Neugablonz is recognized for its key role in the development of 20th-century couture costume jewelry.

----------------------------------------------------------
